Google Is Bringing Local Services Ads Into Google Ads
Google is making a major change to how local service businesses manage their advertising. Local Services Ads (LSA) are officially moving directly into the main Google Ads platform as Performance Max pay-per-lead campaigns.
While this consolidation provides a unified dashboard for lead generation and PPC campaigns, it also introduces fundamental changes to bidding models, budget controls, and reporting workflows.
At Reveur Marketing, we help home services, wellness, and local service providers adapt to major Google updates while maintaining steady lead flow and ROI. Here is everything you need to know about the transition and how to prepare your account.
What Is Changing?
The migration begins with select U.S. advertisers across key verticals including home services, pet care, wellness, and education and will roll out to all accounts through 2027.
While ads will remain keywordless and appear exclusively across Google Search and Google Maps, how you manage them will change significantly:
1. Unified Management & Pay-Per-Lead Model
Pay-per-lead remains: Advertisers will continue to pay only for valid leads (calls, messages, and direct bookings) rather than clicks.
Lead Manager in Google Ads: The standalone Local Services Ads inbox is being replaced by the Lead Manager directly inside Google Ads. Once migrated, the standalone LSA dashboard will be sunset.
2. Campaign Budgeting & Bidding Overhauls
Daily Budgets: Campaigns will transition from an average weekly budget to an average daily budget.
No More Manual Bidding: Manual max-cost-per-lead bidding is being retired. All campaigns will use automated bidding strategies.
Campaign-Level Target CPA: Previously, advertisers could set distinct Target Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA) targets for individual service categories within one account. Under the new model, Google will calculate one campaign-level Target CPA across all categories within a campaign.
3. Automatic Google Business Profile Sync
Business names, physical addresses, and operational hours will sync directly from your Google Business Profile.
Note: BBB callouts will no longer be supported. Google recommends setting up at least six alternative ad callouts to maintain strong ad rank.
Critical Action Items Before Your Account Migrates
Account administrators will receive a 14-day notice from Google prior to migration, followed by a 7-day reminder. To protect your campaign performance and historical data, our team at Reveur Marketing recommends taking the following steps immediately:
Step 1: Export Your Historical Performance Data
Data will NOT transfer: While past lead contacts will transfer, historical performance reports will not carry over to Google Ads. Access to your legacy LSA dashboard will end after migration.
Action: Download all historical lead volume, cost-per-lead, and conversion data immediately so you can conduct year-over-year performance comparisons.
Step 2: Evaluate Splitting Multi-Category Campaigns
Because vertical-level Target CPA is being deprecated, combining high-cost services (e.g., HVAC installation) and lower-cost services (e.g., drain cleaning) into a single campaign could distort Smart Bidding algorithms.
Action: If your service categories have wildly different lead costs or close rates, consider splitting them into separate campaigns—balancing bidding control against conversion volume requirements.
Step 3: Audit Business Profile & Assets
Verify that your Google Business Profile name, address, and operating hours are 100% accurate. Major edits during migration can trigger a 24-to-48-hour verification review and temporarily pause your ads.
Streamline Your Local Lead Generation with Reveur Marketing
Platform migrations can be tricky, but they also open up strategic opportunities to outpace competitors who fail to adapt. By aligning your Google Business Profile, Google Ads interface, and first-party lead tracking, your business can maximize visibility across local search queries.
